Connection with your friends
Facebook is a really good social network that helps you and your friends to keep in touch.You can use Facebook's news feed function to know about what your friends have done recently.You can also start an event and invite your friends in,something like holding a party or organizing a travel trip.
Reconnection with your friends
We always have some different friends in some different periods.But as time goes on,we may be lost connection,even forget each.But on Facebook,you can find your old friend who maybe is your ex-company colleagues,or your college classmates.Maybe for some reason,you still don't have change to have some face to face event,but you can chatting on Facebook at least.
Connection with a new friend
In the past,exchange phone number is the normal way if you want meet new people.But actually,you can know nothing more just using the phone number.But now,you can exchange your Facebook ID.And you can know some basic information about others.Maybe you also could find some common friend.It's really useful to help you to know a new friend.
So I think Facebook is a good network to connection your real world friends who you always contact with,or an old friends who you not very often or a new friend who maybe you know nothing.
