The red and yellow used on the palace walls and roofs are also symbolic. Red repsents happiness, good fortune and wealth. Yellow has been a symbol of imperial power since the Tang dynasty. There are four entrances into the city. There are 9,999 rooms in all the palaces. In China, nine is regarded as a lucky number traditionally. Manpower and materials throughout the country were used to build the Forbidden City .It is mainly made of fine materials from across the country, such as marble, wood bricks, gold, and so on. The Palace Museum is so splendid that every year it attracts tens of thousands of tourists from both home and abroad.
