Benjamin Franklin (Jan.17th,1706 - April 17th,1790) is a well-known American politician and scientist.He is also a publisher,a printer,a journalist,a writer and a philanthropist; and moreover,he is a distinguished diplomat and an inventor.He is one of the important leaders of the American Revolution and has attended the drafting of many important documents,and has served as the American ambassador to France when he won France's support for America's independence.Franklin has carried out lots of experiments on electricity and invented the lightning rod.Other things he invented include dual-focus glasses,flippers and so on.Franklin was a member of Freemasonry,and was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of the United Kingdom.He is also the first United States Postmaster General (Postmaster General).
