Shanghai will build a Disneyland in the Pudong New Area,paving the way for the entry of the United States entertainment giant into China’s mainland.This will provide a huge boost to the city’s economy after the Shanghai 2010 World Expo.
The announcement came just ahead of U.S.President Barack Obama’s scheduled trip to Shanghai and Beijing between November 15 and November 18 during his first official visit to China.
“Shanghai is in discussions with Walt Disney Co.(沃尔特·迪斯尼公司) about details in order to build a top-level Disneyland in Pudong,” a spokesman said.
The park’s area was estimated at 7 square kilometres.The first phase of the project will include a “Magic Kingdom-style” theme park,with characteristics tailored to Shanghai.And other amenities will be the same as other Disney resorts.It will take about five years for the park’s first phase of construction to be completed.
Disney owns and operates five parks around the world.They are situated in California,Florida,Tokyo,Paris,and Hong Kong.Probably,the number of tourists from the mainland to Hong Kong will fall as some Disneyland visitors will be drawn to the Shanghai park.However,the Hong Kong park,with some unique attractions,will still remain an amazing attraction.
