Yes,Alice___ the gold medal in the speech contest,which I find hard to believe.

主要是B和C用在这里的区别
为什么C就不成呢,发生在happened to hear之前呀,过去的过去.
in the speech contest（这里就表明了是过去,因为这个演讲比赛是过去的.）
如果你选C,就表明在演讲比赛前就获金牌了,这是不可能的事吧.
