为什么用from where 而不是from which? from which不就等于where吗?

from which不等于where.where在定语从句中表示动作发生的地点,作地点状语,指小地点时它只能换成at which,指大地点时只能换成in which.而from意思是“从……”,where没有“从……”的意思.
题中where从句相当于“the place where...”.是整个where从句作介词from的宾语,而不是单独一个where作from的宾语（因为where是副词,只能做状语,不能做宾语）.
再问：那为什么有的句子中有地点的从句的时候只用一个where或者是介词+which？我就这里分不清
再答：这都是“在……（地方）”的句子才只用where或in/at+which。如： The house where(in which) I grew up lies on the hill.这座房子坐落在山腰，这座房子是我长大的地方。 He stood at the very point where (at which) the accident happened.他就站在事发地点。 from which意思是“从……”，不是单纯的表示地点。如： The line from which the runners started their race is still there. The rain didn't wash it away. 运动员的起跑线还在那儿，雨并没有将它冲刷掉。这里的from which如果换成where，意思就有点不清楚。“从……”的含义就体现不出来。一般来讲，from which 是不换成where的。
再问：那比如说我问的这个句子，后面的从句不就是from the place he....所以可以用from which啊。。
再答：是from the place where he....
