PAREZ® 631 NC resin produces high wet and dry
strength over the pH range of 4.5 to 7.5.Although the
resin is very efficient at a neutral pH and was designed
for use in neutral papermaking,the efficiency of the
resin is further improved as the pH is lowered as shown
in Figure 3.In all furnishes except for poorly washed
unbleached kraft,PAREZ® 631 NC resin will provide
more wet and dry strength improvement at a neutral
pH than any other type of wet strength resin.In
furnishes containing significant latent alkalinity
(temporary bicarbonate hardness),it will be necessary
to lower the pH to 5.5-6.0 to obtain the maximum
efficiency from the resin.
Use of Promoters
It is frequently possible to improve the cost-performance
ratio of PAREZ® 631 NC resin with the additional use of
Bayer promoters.See your Technical Representative for
a specific recommendation for your system.
