但我记得老师讲的是windows in the wall

A window is in the wall.
窗户在墙上.用in the wall
on the wall与in the wall均可表示"在墙上",由于介词不同,它们的用法也有区别:
on表示"在……表面",像图画、照片等在墙的表面上,所以用on the wall.
in表示"在……里面",像门窗、钉子、洞、孔等在墙的里面,故用in the wall.
