Odd though it sounds,cosmic inflation is a scientifically plausible consequence of some respected ideas in elementary-particle physics,and many astrophysicists have been convinced for the better part of a decade that it is true.

楼上怎么能如此乱翻译呢?有两处根本把意思弄反了.
尽管听起来古怪,宇宙膨胀是根据一些在基本粒子物理学中被认可的理论推导出来的在科学上能说得通的结论,而且很多天体物理学家在过去近十年已经承认这个结论是真实的.
注：
1. scientifically plausible 科学上能说得通.楼上的翻译”似是而非的科学”,把意思搞反了.另一位翻译成”科学合理”,走过头了.plausible的意思是有可能是对的,但不一定对.这个分寸要掌握好.
2. consequence 是指在科学上具有因果关系的结果,简单地翻译成结果并不能反映这个词的涵义.翻译成结论更严谨些.
3. respected 不能翻译成”权威的”(authoritative)或是”公认的”(well recognized).直译是”被尊重的”,这里根据上下文翻译成”被认可的”.
4. and 是”而且”,不是”但是”.两句话的意思是相连的,中间没有转折.楼上因为把意思搞反了,不得不加一个转折.
5. convinced 被说服.和楼上所翻译的”证明”真是南辕北辙.
6. elementary particle 基本粒子.楼上另一位的”初等粒子”不知所云.
