Several decades ago,China was secluded itself far away from the outside world.During such a long time,people in Western Countries did not know anything about China.The time-table they listed about China was begin at 2500 BC.[1] In other words,they even did not know that China is a country which has existed for about 5000 years.The Westerners knew something about China from a kind of intelligentsia which we named them overseas students.They came to China and then let the people in their motherland knew something about China.In return,some Chinese intelligentsia came to the Western Countries to study as overseas students.However,the number of these overseas students was so small and they went abroad not for themselves.They wanted to know more about the Western Countries and most of them made contributions in some domains in China.Throughout the history of China during the past several hundreds of years,China has broken out several times of trend for studying abroad.Every time it has a special background of history and social circumstance and it brought a deep influence on the overseas students themselves and the whole country.
China joined the WTO at the end of 2001 and it was a kind of symbol that the trend of studying abroad would come soon.As expected,during the past ten years or so,more and more students went to studying overseas.A new trend of studying abroad broken out just at several years after China joined the WTO.
