You’re probably been shocked before——by static electricity,like when you walk across carpet and touch a doorknob.
But a real electic shock is a lot more painful than that,and a lot more dangerous.
The risks of electic power can generally by divided into two kinds：direct and indirect.
The direct danger is the damage that the power itself can do to the human body.When a person gets shocked,his muscles tignten up,making ir almost impossible to pull away from the circuit.His lungs constrict,making it hard to breathe.His heartbeat is interrupted and blood vessels tignten.Burns occur where the electricity enters and leaves the body.
The indirect danger of electric shock includes the damages that can result to the human body as a result of something caused by electric shock,such as a fall,an explosion,or a fire.
The table below shows how a person can be affected by a certain amount of current flow：
