我国商务英语研究始于20 世纪50年代初期,当时称为“外贸英语”,其主干课程包括外贸英语函电、西方报刊文章选读和外贸英语口语.进入20 世纪80 年代,随着改革开放的深入和大经贸格局的形成,外贸英语的内容也随着扩大,形成了经贸英语,其课程范围大大超过了外贸英语,除了语言学习外,还包括许多以讲解经贸业务知识的课程.到了20 世纪90 年代,中国经济进一步融入全球化浪潮中,商务英语逐渐取代了经贸英语.尤其是中国入世以后,中国经济的快速发展和国际商务机构的激烈竞争加大了对高级商务英语人才的需求.截止2009 年,教育部已批准7 所高校设立商务英语本科专业.全国有929 所高校开设英语专业,近700 所设有商务英语方向或课程.[1]足见学校及学生对商务英语的重视和青睐,也反映出社会的需求.
