There be句型遵从“就近原则”,也就是说be的形式与和它最近的那个词保持一致,如果最近的词是单数,就用is（或is的其他形式如was等）,如果最近的词是复数,就用are（或的其他行式如were等）
我们可以很清楚地看到,此句中离动词最近的是a sad ant,是单数,所以这里用“there is”是正确的.
