The city has a history of more than 3,100 years, and has been known as Chang'an for a long time. Xi'an was once the capital of some important dynasties in ancient time, which included the Zhou, the Qin, the Han, the Sui, and the Tang dynasties. Xi'an was the starting point of the Silk Road.
