In royal palaces there were to be found many comforts that medieval castles did not offer.These had dark dungeons and damp,drafty living quarters instead.
Lacking many comforts compared to royal palaces,medieval castles instead offered dark dungeons and damp,drafty living quarters.
With their dark dungeons and damp,drafty living quarters,medieval castles offered few of the comforts to be found in royal palaces.

a选项里面有个语法错误,也就是前半句没有同类比较,它把comfort和royal palaces比较了,应该改成lacking many comforts compared to that of royal palaces或者把palaces改为palaces'.
第二个错误是句意,dark dungeon和damp quarter都是few comfort做例子的,也就是few comforts是总,dungeon和quarter是分,“总”的部分应该作为主句而不是分句,所以B更好一点.
