如果硬要挑刺的话,我个人觉得有点问题,最好把manage换成try.这道题应该是高考的改错题吧.manage to do sth 和try to do sth 都表示设法做某事,努力做某事,都付出了努力.但是manage to do sth往往做某事有成功的可能性,而且可能性很大,或者已经成功了.比如：he managed to put out the fire.他成功的扑灭了那大火.如果是try to do sth表示成功的可能性很小,或者说未成功,相当于fail to do sth,如he tried/failed to put out the fire,because the fire was too fierce,由于火势凶猛,他未能扑灭那大火.句中有 couldn‘t,暗示没有扑灭,但是the men们已经努力了.
