this week I missed out on one of the rare visits of Hiroshi F to London.He mailed me up but I didnt see the message until too late.I wanted to show him some new Tee Shirts that we will start to sell in THE HIDEOUT.They are the productions of Tyrone Lebon.He is now on his second series of photographers tees that are produced under the label Do Be Do and he includes in this set such photographic legends as SHAWN MORTENSEN,JURGEN TELLER,MARK LEBON,DICK JEWELL to name a few.In general the internet pollutes our lives with so much crap but Tyrones site (DOBEDO.co.uk) opens up a small scale craft and creation again that has been destroyed by global brands and and malls that wipe out pockets of culture that one existed before everything was so homogeneous.Although Hiroshi F does work with the big guys like Nike or Levis he has always has an understanding and appreciation of the beauty of the small.It really great to put this kind of product next to the other brands in the Hideout as a balance.the shirts are also available at dobedo.co.uk
As the distributor of Stussy in the UK one of my jobs was placing the ads in I-D magazine.I was always a fan of the magazine and bought it every month anyway.After a visit to Japanfor a Stussy Tribe event I was asked by Hiroshi F to help with some press and PR for theGOODENOUGH brand.This was almost twenty years ago,long before the internet.We made a little shoot in the car park under my building and sent the pictures to the magazineand waited.The image that we sent was blurry and mysterious,the products that were availablewere no more that printed tee shirts saying 'end racism' some logo sweats and printed coach jackets.I dont think that you could even see the products in the shot.The text that accompanied the picture was very vague.There were no hype- blogs then - thosebloggers were still at school but we still had a massive interest after the publication and started a wave and I can see the thread that leads from back then to now.These days we make our own blog and we promote our products virtually - we still have a selection from our old favouritesand also some new and exciting brands like NORSE PROJECTS from Denmark Check out these deerskin,wind stop gloves that are just in stock
