我想知道in the period 和during the period的区别,比如这段时间里我去了许多地方.该用哪个?

during:expressing duration VS in:exact time
during=over,from X to Y,throughout
in=specifies an exact "calendar" time,which may be as small as a moment or as large as a century
所以说during是表示一个时期内,而in是表示那个时期（“内”的感觉比较弱）
eg.The sea was warm during the summer.(在夏天那一段漫长的时光内）
The sea was warm in the summer.（在夏天的时候）
所以,要表达“这段时间里我去了许多地方”,我觉得用during会比较合适.
再问：是不是可以这样讲“这段时间里我去了许多地方” ，如果我话语内容不想强调那段时间就用in,如果我话语想强调的就是在那段时间里，便用during。求赐教。求引证。
　
再答：对，其实during就是强调“那段时间里”，表达的是how long；in是强调“那段时间”，表达的是exactly when
但是如果是BEFORE PHRASES OF DURATION就只能during
eg.We had a great time during our stay there
We had a great time in our stay there. (incorrect)
这里stay there是一段时间，前面就要用during
再比如We are on vacation in/during July(both ok)
The shop is closed in the whole month of July. (incorrect,use during instead)
这里july可以是特指六月也可以是那一个月的时光，但是the whole month of july 强调的是整个六月的时光。
