用with的话应该是with the day going on
1,It was ...that ...是强调句,不是从句.
后面这句是主语从句,that后面才是真正的主语
the first clock with a face and an hour hand was made是主语,前面的it是形式主语
因为主语太长,放在前面不好,所以用it引出
2,用that的话句子的意思就是：他太高兴以至于他收到了他朋友邀请他去重庆的请求.
明显不合意思.
应该是when..当他收到他朋友邀请他去重庆的请求后很高兴.
