One day,a tiger saw a frog (青蛙).He had never seen a frog before.He said,"I want to eat you.But first tell me who you are."
The frog said,"I am the king of the frogs!I can do all kinds of wonderful things."
"Really?" said the tiger,"Can you show me what you can do?"
"All right.Let's jump across the river.I can jump further than you," answered the frog.
They came to the river.The tiger jumped across it.To his surprise,he saw the frog in front of him.
"I've been waiting for you,Mr.Tiger," said the frog,laughing.
While the tiger had been getting ready for his jump,the frog had caught hold of the tiger's tail (尾巴) and pulled some of tiger's hair.But the tiger did not know this.
"Why do you have some tiger's hair in your mouth?" asked the tiger.
"Oh," said the frog,"Yesterday I killed a tiger and ate him.These are just a few of his hairs that I couldn't eat."
The tiger quickly ran away.On his way home he met a fox.
"Why are you running so fast,Mr.Tiger?" asked the fox.
The tiger told him the reason.The fox laughed at the tiger.He said that he could kill the frog easily.
"If you think you can kill him,I will go back with you," said the tiger,"but,when you see him,I know you will be afraid and will run away.We'd better tie our tails together so that we can help each other."
So the tiger and the fox tied their tails together.Then they went to meet the frog.
The frog saw them.He was very clever.He cried."You,sir,are a great fox.Is that the tiger you have brought along for my evening meat?"
The tiger ran away,dragging (拖) the fox behind him.
