Two Friends
Two friends were walking through a desert. The weather was scorching hot,and the sun beat down upon them as they travelled.During the journey they had a quarrel, and one hit the other in the face. The one who got hit felt terrible because he was badly hurt, and wondered why his friend would do such a thing to him over such a small matter. However,he wrote in the sand, without saying anything,“Today my best friend hit me in the face.”
They kept on walking until they found an oasis. They were very pleased to find this,as they were both suffering from the tremendous heat. They decided that, after drinking and quenching their thirst it would be a wonderful idea to have a swim. The one who had been hit got into trouble in the water. He was a weak swimmer, and found himself out of his depth. At first her tried to stay afloat, and was frantically splashing trying to reach dry land. However, after some time he began to lose strength and started sinking. His life was in danger but his friend, seeing the trouble that he was in,swiftly swam over to him,and dragged him onto the sand. After he came to himself,he carved on a stone,“Today my best friend saved my life.” The friend who had hit and saved him asked,“After I hurt you,you wrote in the sand and now you write on a stone. Why?” He replied,“When someone hurts us,we should write it down in the sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But when someone does something good for us,we must carve it in stone where wind can hardly erase it.” So please learn to write your hurts in the sand and to write your thanks in stone.
