1.Please provide detailed scope of work for each cost.

3.Hourly rate for their skill sets.(This is important for if there is additional work to be done,we have an agreed labor rate).

What type of tools (software) will they use to submit engineering design to customer.
Also what type of tools (i.e.Project) are used to communicate project status and activities to date?
5.Exact Assumptions of what the proposal includes and does NOT include.
since this is a custom project,we need to get as much details on the scope of work so we can minimize any miscommunication and misconception.This protects the customer as well as the design company.
My suggestion is for you to get "proposals" with pricing instead of just "quotes" back.Proposals should include the following,as a minimum.
1.Scope of work with pricing
2.Proposal Assumptions
3.Terms and Conditions
4.Customer References
5.Company Background and products designed.
6.Hourly Rates per skill-set (mechanical engineering,electronics engineering,design engineering,etc.).
7.Key tools,work processes,and reports to demonstrate progress.
8.Software Tools for submittal of design to customer.
NOTE:The approach should be that this is a "service" and not a "component",
therefore above information is critical in evaluation of the service.
I would suggest you get more information from this design company
(i.e.,company background,# of staff,references if available,etc.).
We need to confirm that they can provide all hardware,mechanical,and assembly design.
