但我不太明白的是原句的谓语动词是什么？是were in isolation还是were longer？

谓语是were isolated (被动语态） longer 是副词比较级.修饰isolate.
than 后面省略了isolated,而把were 提到than 的后面.原句than 后面应该是：.than Aluets or Inuits of the Northpacific and northern Alsaka were isolated.但这样的结构不太符合简略的习惯.这句的意思是：白令海的因纽特人被隔绝与欧洲人的联系要比阿留申人或北太平洋,北阿拉斯加的因纽特人（被隔绝）的时间长.
