Barriersto Knowledge Transfer
Knowledge transfer is of much importancefor human, without which our world will not be so colorful, and human may benot the most powerful species in the world. We can analyze the influence ofknowledge transfer at three aspects. Firstly, the popularization of correctopinions or methods can promote the social development owning to the guidance theyprovide. Secondly, it also helps people slam the door of wrong and outdatedknowledge while absorb the right parts of it. Thirdly, knowledge transfer makesa contribution to appearance and development of new knowledge since theknowledge is always evolutive.
As is discussed above, knowledge transferplays an important role in our lives, but there are still some barriers toknowledge transfer. I roughly divide these unfavorable factors into two sorts—theobjective ones and the subjective ones.
The knowledge level of people is the firstbarrier to knowledge transfer. Taking the principle of relativity for example,we all know that it is the most correct theory in physics and has solved manyproblems confused people for hundreds of years. However, as the famous physicalscientist Langevon said, there are only twelve people who can understand it. Maybethe amount has increased, but it’s still very little. That’s why human cannotdevelop deeper theories in the cutting edge of physics and science. In pastperiods, the communication was not as convenient as nowadays, which resulted inthat it took a long time to complete the transfer of some given knowledge.
As to the subjective factors, the lack oftrust and resistance to change may be the major ones. Human-beings areaccustomed to absorb knowledge only from the people or books they trust, suchas some teachers and famous people. However, the knowledge transfer may befaced with obstacles because of people’s bigotry. What’s more, human-beingsalways resist the changes, which is resulted from our inherent inertia. But I’mafraid this phenomenon may cause serious problems, even the stagnancy of theknowledge development included. Nowadays the trouble has improved a lot. Everyscholar can deliver his opinion to the whole world, and others who take thesimilar researches can both learn and discuss it.
From my perspective, the objective barriersto knowledge transfer are difficult to eliminate compared to the subjectiveones. The only thing we can do is to build up the consciousness that to absorba new kind of knowledge is always beneficial, whether it’s correct or not.
