There was once a farmer who lived near a road .
lt was not a busy road,but ftom time to ,cars psaaed the fatm .
Near the farm gate,there was a large hole in the toad .
This hole was always full of water,and the drivwrs of the cars could not see how deep the hole was.They thought it was probably shallow .
Then when they drove into hole,they could not drive out because it was so deep.
The farmer did not spend much time working on his farm.He spent most of it watching the hole.
When a car drove into it,he pulled the car out with his tractor and charged the driver a lot of money for doing this.
One day,the driver of a car said to him,"You must make a lot of money pulling cars out of this hole night snd day".
"Oh,no,"the farmer said."I don't pull cars out of the hole at night.At night l fill the hole with water."

从前有个在路边生活的农夫.
那条路并不繁忙,不过有时会有车辆经过农场.
在农场大门附近的路上有个大坑.（我估计你要说road吧?toad是蟾蜍……）
这个坑里总是积满水,致使司机们无法看清坑的深度,误认为很浅.
当他们的车陷进洞里就再也出不来,因为坑太深了.
那个农夫并没有花很多时间照看农场.他的绝大部分时间都用来守着这个坑.
当车辆被陷到坑里,他就用拖拉机把车子拉出来并要求司机支付大笔费用.
有一天,一位司机对他说：“你肯定靠整天拖车赚了好多钱.”
“噢,不是整天”,农夫说：“晚上我我并不拖车,而是往坑里蓄水.”
