Patients: Men and nonpregnant women with hyper- cholesterolemia who were 18 years of age were included in this trial. All participants gave informed consent before any trial procedure was initiated. The relevant institutional review boards approved the trial protocol and any amendments, and the trial was performed in accor- dance with the ethical principles consistent with good clinical practice.
